Last week I had a wonderful experience. My mom and I went on a spontaneous road-trip; just the two of us. My mom had told me she had it all planned out, after researching different places for our destination, she found the perfect location; a resort called Oglebay in Wheeling, West Virginia. Once I realized we were headed in that direction, I began to get even more excited. After spending the weekend at the resort back in winter of 2011, I knew it would be the perfect get away to read, relax by the pool, take hikes, and fine dining. A place for engagement photos, weddings, family, business meetings, and even family vacations. But I left Oglebay three days later with many more memories than I could have ever planned and a closer relationship with my mom. Although I am not a travel blogger (however I wish I was-that would be AWESOME!!) I will be sharing all the memories we made through out the trip! (-:
DAY ONE
After three hours of traveling from Ohio to Wheeling, West Virginia, we finally arrived! We spent our afternoon checking into our room and exploring the resort area.
Later that evening we decided to eat at a quaint restaurant called Avenue Eats. Avenue Eats is located downtown Wheeling, West Virginia. The place was small, but the outside patio was nice. Mom and I enjoyed each others company. We spent our night eating gourmet cupcakes from the restaurant while sipping coffee and watching episodes of "Friends". THE CUPCAKES WERE AMAZING!!! One of the best cupcakes I have ever had! (Sorry Sara's Sweets). We were the lucky ones to get the last two.
DAY TWO
Day Two consisted of morning walks with Mom and exploring the resort and seeing what Oglebay had to offer us. We walked 3 miles almost every morning we were at the resort. The Sara Wheeling Walking Trails were absolutely breathe taking. The ponds with the fountains were beautiful. Every where you looked, there were deer running across the hills. It was almost as if we were in Bambi Land.
Later that day, we decided to get breakfast and then go spend the day at the pool. The breakfast buffet is the best part about the dining experience. The views are amazing but the breakfast will not disappoint. That morning, I ended up getting scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and pecan waffles with raspberry filling and whipped topping. Oh and coffee of course, I never go a day with out my coffee.
Our second night was our "fancy night" where we got all dressed up and went out to eat. We decided to walk more of the resort and shops. This was our mini photo shoot we decided to have..
We ended our night out by getting Tim Horton's & vegging out on timbits on the balcony. My favorite hang out spot at Oglebay. The view is incredible.
DAY THREE
Before we both new it, day three came and it was time to end our trip at Oglebay. So, we decided to take one last hike before we packed up our things to head home.

THE LAST AND FINAL DAY
For our final day together, we spent the day heading to Dayton, Ohio to meet my college roommate Blaire. I was so nervous to meet her. After having a phone relationship with her since December 2016 the anticipation of meeting in real life was nerve racking. Blaire if you are reading this- it was so nice to meet you in person. I had fun hanging out with you at The Green even though it was raining all day. We already have so much in common (including our obsession over One Tree Hill and American Girl Dolls back in our younger days. I can't wait to experience "college" with you, B! Thanks for showing me where I could get my piercing!
On the way home from Dayton, Mom and I stopped at a custom jewelry store called, Allison's where I got my cartilage pierced! (sorry Dad). They have some pretty good deals!
We both came back into town as a different mother and daughter. Now we're as close as Lorelai and Rory. Our relationship grew closer and closer as we spent our days together. I will cherish this week my mom and I spent together more than anything. Thanks for all you do for me, Mom. I love you.
I hope y'all enjoyed my post about my trip with my mommy! If you have any questions about Oglebay, feel free to contact me on Instagram or my email, coderlindsay@gmail.com . Have a blessed day!
XOXO
